Steve Vetsavong

SCBJJ is proud to have Coach Steve Vetsavong, an esteemed Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) Professor with over 18 years of dedicated training, competition experience, and a passion for teaching. Coach Steve began his martial arts odyssey as a devoted fan of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and an avid viewer of the UFC. It was during these early days that he witnessed the incredible power of BJJ, as it allowed a smaller competitor named Royce Gracie to conquer larger foes. In 2005, Steve embarked on his BJJ journey under the expert guidance of renowned instructors, starting with Zé Mario “Esfiha” Queiroga and Vince Mattei. With their tutelage, Steve honed his skills and deepened his love for the art.

This journey led Coach Steve to a remarkable milestone in 2020 when he was awarded his well-deserved black belt by none other than Fernando “Gringo” Zulick, a true luminary in the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. During Coach Steve’s journey to achieve a black belt, Steve tested himself by competing in BJJ tournaments and earned his place on the podium.

Coach Steve's journey didn't stop there. He ventured into the world of MMA, where his tenacity and skills led him to a title fight—a remarkable achievement in itself. Alongside his personal accomplishments, Steve has generously shared their knowledge and expertise with others. Coach Steve has coached and cornered both amateur and professional MMA fighters, imparting his invaluable insights and guidance.

Coach Steve is currently gearing up for another chapter in his BJJ journey, eager to compete once more and continue their pursuit of excellence in the martial arts. With a blend of personal achievements, coaching prowess, and an unwavering dedication to BJJ and MMA, Coach Steve serves as an inspiration to all who aspire to excel in the world of combat sports.
