More than just Jiu-Jitsu

BJJ offers a wide variety of benefits, including fitness, self-defense, and stress management. Moreover, BJJ fosters an incredible degree of inclusion and camaraderie, creating a genuine team and family environment in which everyone is committed to helping one another achieve excellence. During our classes, you will learn a variety of movements, positions, and submissions, as well as the conceptual framework for competition and self-defense applications. BJJ with a Gi allows you to use your attire (i.e. the grappling clothing) to control and submit your opponent. Our aim is to provide our students with a solid foundation of core concepts and equip them with the skills to progress through the ranks of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

No Gi BJJ: Submission Wrestling

One of the fastest growing sports in the world, No Gi BJJ -or submission wrestling as it is more commonly called- is a much more dynamic, fast paced style of Jiu-Jitsu. Participants do not wear the traditional uniform (i.e. the Gi) and are not allowed to grab their opponents clothing. The end result is dynamic engagements, which often creates more scrambles, positional exchanges and opportunities for submission. Classes will focus on wrestling, take downs & the most modern No Gi submission techniques, including leg locks.

At SCBJJ, we are committed to providing your child with a safe, fun, and engaging experience that is professionally run and delivered with the highest quality of instruction. BJJ provides an optimal platform for children to build self-confidence, make new friends, and learn an effective self-defense system. We understand that all children are different and have unique abilities.

Our program focuses on your child’s strengths rather than fitting them into a “cookie cutter” program that may not work for them. Kids are taught the fundamentals of Jiu-Jitsu through easy-to-learn techniques and fun, interactive drills that will grow and change with each student.
